Earlier this week I decided I need to live my life more intently and with purpose. I need to stop eating without thinking of what I’m putting into my body. I need to find my relationship with God again. I need to love unconditionally.
Before I started to write this post, I went back to read my intentions for this year and can confidently say that I can only cross one thing off my list. Only one? What the…?! But, instead of getting mad and frustrated, I’m going to focus on the why. Why haven’t I felt as though I have lived my life intently this year? There are a few reasons…
Purpose. What is my purpose? That is the biggest question that needs to be answered for all of the pieces to fall into place. After talking with a colleague who I consider a friend, she mentioned that once she began focusing on what was important to her, her goals and dreams started to happen. That is no coincidence!
A system. I had great motives but no plan in place to carry them out. Vincent Van Gogh said it best, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” I was wishing for those things to happen, but had nothing in the works on how I was going to achieve them.
Periodic Check Ins. I need occasional reviews of my goals and plans to make sure I’m on track. However, a system needs to be in place before this could even happen.
Even though it’s not the new year, I’m going to work on changing. Right here. Right now.
I have “brain dumped” all the things I’d love to accomplish. They range from business goals like launching the birth announcement line to personal intentions such as setting priorities.
You might be shaking your head and say “you do this all the time, what’s different?” I agree but what is different is that I have written it all down in my new planner and plan on focusing on only a few key intentions that will propel me forward personally and professionally. (my purpose + system) And I plan on putting into my calendar periodic check ins and write about my progress here on ye old blog. You see, blogging more is one of my priorities that I will work on.
My family, business and life are way too important to just go through the motions. I want to jump in with 2 feet and be engaged. I want to be intentional in every aspect of my life and it.starts.now.
