Tyler’s Monthly Photos: 5 Months

Dear Tyler,

Friday you turned 5 months old. Time really is flying by because it feels like yesterday I wrote your 4 month letter. Yet so much has happened. You’re trying so hard to roll from your back to your belly, soon baby boy, very soon. We celebrated your sister’s 5th birthday with a slumber party. You had a great checkup with the pediatrician who says you’re off the charts measuring a whopping 18.5 pounds! We basically skipped 6 months clothes and went straight to 9-12 months. Slow down little man…slow down.

You’ve also started to reach for things and people which makes my heart melt every time. And you’re starting to sit up quite well. You love being active and involved. I have a feeling we’ll be chasing you around the house in no time.

Tonight, you were awake for Kendall’s bedtime so I brought you in for bedtime stories. Oh how you LOVED it! The smile and giggling between you two made me race to my office to grab my camera. I pray that you and Kendall keep this tight bond and love.

Keep smiling little man!

Love you with all my heart,
Mommy

I’m the Newest Contributor for Celebrations at Home

I’m super excited to finally be able to share the news that I’m the newest contributor for Celebrations at Home. I’ve been following Chris’ blog for awhile and adore all that she does so being apart of that makes me so happy! My first contribution were free Halloween printable tags. See how Chris used them to dress up some spooky cookie fingers!

Welcome, Bridgett! So glad to have you!

Change is good

Every 6 months or so, I call up my dear friend Katie and we talk shop. It’s so refreshing to have someone in the industry whom you can trust and be candid with. She’s the type of friend I can bounce ideas off of and get good honest feedback because she gets it. She understands the weird work hours, the attempt to juggle it all and how you must change with the times.

But it’s tough.

You are the business. You can change anything you want at the drop of the hat. Yet, you have your brand and products set so you should remain the same day in and day out, right?

But shouldn’t you change with the times?

I’ve been asking myself that question all week. I feel like I need to shake things up. Being comfortable and in the same routine doesn’t work well for me or my creativity. I need a boost of excitement, something to get fired up about. Now I’m not going to do anything drastic as change my business name or entire product line, but I feel like the business needs to grow up a bit. You know?

I created this business from the ground up and in it’s infancy stage it was all about babies and being cute. But as I mature and my children grow, I want my business to grow with them. This business is a reflection of my life and my family and I’ve changed along with my family. So my business should reflect that.

I don’t have a concrete plan, as of yet, but I have some ideas brewing that I’m getting really excited about. One of the big item on my list is to be purposeful and intentional with my time in business, family, health and this blog. I won’t go into too much detail in this post but lately my schedule is non-existent. Some might say, you just had a baby, give yourself some slack! And yes, that is true but I crave routine and knowing what my next step will be. I’m most productive under a tight deadline. So in order to grow my business to where I want it to be, I need to be true to myself and accept change.

First project with my Silhouette Cameo

My Silhouette Cameo and I are back on speaking terms. I go through this phase with all new electronics. First I’m giddy with excitement to see what it can do which quickly turns into refraining from throwing it out the window, then ending with a mutual respect for each other.

I finally arrived at the last phase. There were so many projects running through my head on what to make but I settled on organizing the area where jackets and bookbags are thrown about. You see, I watch 2 other children every day after school and within the first week, I knew I had to corral their belongings somehow. The floor would not do.

So I headed to Target and got some 3M hooks. Love those things! And couldn’t decide how to personalize them, because I have to personalize everything. It’s what I do. When my Cameo arrived, I knew how to solve that problem! I made vinyl stickers with their first initials and put them above their respective hooks. Now everyone has their own space.

I’m still on the lookout for inexpensive boxes to put underneath their hooks to hold shoes, socks, projects, etc…anyone know where’s a good place to look?

What a great idea! I love those hooks too, we put them in our coat closet :) As for boxes we use the fabric square boxes that fold up, each kid has one to put their shoes in. I got mine at target :)

You have the best ideas! Try Michael’s, Ikea or Staples.
I found great folding wicker baskets at Amazon.
Happy shopping! Looking forward to the holiday launch :)
