That is what my friend Michelle calls this White Noise app she’s been using for her children. We both use the shushing technique to settle our little ones which works great! But after 15-20 minutes you’re done.
So what are your alternatives?
Perhaps a white noise machine from Brookstone that plays the ocean rolling or birds chirping. But not really conducive to those on-the-go. So this White Noise app is supposed to be the equivalent to that. So I downloaded it…heck it’s free*, why not!? Threw it in the carseat with Tyler (who does not like to be there) and drove 20 minutes home. I got out, opened the back door to find not only Tyler passed out soundly, but Kendall drooling in her sleep.
So I can attest that it’s truly crack for babies (and big kids too!).
*There is a free version when you go to the app store on your phone.

Hello Bridget!
I was introduced to your website by a mutual friend. From time to time I like to read your blogs, I feel as though they are very inspiring and I ask the questions sometimes “how does she do it all”. I want to encourage you to enjoy this precious time home with your babies. I was a stay at home mom for several years, it is something I always wanted to do, so when the opportunity presented itself I found myself at home looking around like “ok now what else is it”. There were days I craved a grown-up conversation, lol. I found myself being home and looking around like why am I not enjoying this, hey this is suppose to be perfect!!!. I did not want to complain or come off as ungrateful when there were so many of my friends wishing they could trade places with me and most of all this is something I had talked about forever. When we pray about our desires, we have to learn to be so thankful when they appear and most of all as you did take that quiet moment to catch a pic of the moments you treasure and be reminded of why you made your decision. You will so enjoy this time, God has already planned it out for you and as I am always reminded when I talk to other mommies who wished they had the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a stay at mom, “I am so thankful to God that I was able to do it. Especially when you hear your kids say “mom remember when I was young we use to cuddle and watch Dora, the school’s christmas programs or reading a book to the kids at your kids reading club, its invaluable. You made the right decision and trust the time is coming when you will wake up and say” oh this is the best thing ever!!!! And please know that you are so BLESSED to be able to make that decision to stay home, in my mind from my personal experience now that I am back to work full-time, it is one of the BEST decisions ever!!!Oh and if you were not home you would not have been able to get such an awesome pic of the kids, so precious!!
God bless you!!!
Hi Yolanda,
Thank you sooo much for the heartfelt words. I love hearing from women who are/were in the same position as I am and are able to look back and validate they made the right choice. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
