Tradeshow Bootcamp

Congratulations Laura for winning a seat to all 4 seminars! Katie will be in touch with further details.I’m so excited to be able to share the launch of the Tradeshow Bootcamp. Katie, owner of Kelp Designs, has been working furiously for awhile on making this happen. Since my interview with Katie about her rookie experience at NSS back in 2009, her inbox has been flooded with questions ranging from booth logistics and marketing. Due to the high demand for a place to get these questions answered, Katie developed this workshop, which is “…designed to give independent stationery manufacturers an open, honest and informative inside look at what goes into preparing for and exhibiting at a tradeshow. The four-part teleconference series will include first-hand experiences from smaller stationery manufacturers who were once in your shoes – considering exhibiting or exhibiting for the first time – and the many things they learned along the way.”

But this isn’t your run of the mill seminar with someone spouting off information. No way! This an in-depth experience driven interactive seminar that “…goes beyond the basics of exhibiting, saving you hours of research time and giving you access to people who can tell you what to expect. In addition to providing candid feedback to frequently asked questions about booth logistics, prepping products and marketing, you’ll also hear from retailers and sales reps in the industry to understand what they look for when roaming the floors of major tradeshows.”

Trust me, you don’t want to miss this!

Katie has so graciously decided to give one lucky winner a seat to all 4 seminars! That’s a $100 value for information that can help make your business soar. All you have to do to enter is ask Katie any question you have about exhibiting at tradeshows. Just leave a comment with your question and that’s it! If you want an extra chance to win, copy and paste this tweet: I just entered for a chance to attend @tradeshowcamp http://ow.ly/3TFgi. Then come back and leave a comment letting us know you tweeted about it.

The giveaway is open until February 15th with a random winner chosen on Wednesday, February 16th.

Tradeshow Bootcamp was founded in 2011 by Kelp Designs, but was made possible by many supportive folks in the stationery industry! The program evolved from the fact that we are members of a very collaborative industry and the belief that the more we share with one another, the stronger our stationery community will become.

The workshop schedule and event registration will be available soon. Stay connected on Facebook and Twitter for more information.

Hi Katie – I have a few questions:
Do you need to have a lot of product to show at the NSS, what is the standard sample amount?
Does it have to span over many topics, ie.. baby, shower, wedding, birthday, holiday? or can you cater to one specific field, ie weddings?
How big are the booths? The costs?
Can you buy a small booth or share with someone?
Thanks Katie!!

Are promotional giveaways effective ie; tote bags? Or will it just attract visitors looking for a free bag?

Just tweeted this giveaway too! @iminkpressed

Hi Katie,

Is it possible to attend the NSS just as a visitor and check everything out before actually becoming a vendor?

Thanks,
Cindy

Who do you recommend for booth furnishings? Least expensive options for walls, floors, furniture, lighting, etc? Recommended freight carriers?

Just tweeted!

i’d like to know more about the kind of marketing you do before the show? and all the paperwork you need to bring, ie, biz cards, catalogs, etc.

thanks!

i tweeted! :)

I’d like to know how much stock to bring and details about selling a wedding book to retailers.

I tweeted too! @anemone_press

I would like to hear what you think are realistic goals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd year sales when starting in wholesale.
Thanks!

Do you have to gather all of your collections (weddings, greeting cards, etc) in a book for NSS? Also, what do people do for takeaways so that people can remember their booth? Thanks for doing this ladies!

I tweeted! What a FABULOUS idea for a teleconference, thanks so much for the contest!

I’d love to know a realistic breakdown of costs on exhibiting (including marketing, etc.). I am trying to save up now, and I’d like to know my real target goal. Thanks!

Questions about exhibiting at a tradeshow? Where do I begin?

does it make sense to share a booth with another “new” vendor before investing on your own?

I am curious about some of the fire-proofing restrictions (which I know you have first-hand experience with) and for details around shipping product to the site and the most econmical way to do so. Thanks!

I’d be interested to hear about reps and wedding books.
