The holiday rush

These past 2 weeks have been a world wind to say the least. I had no idea what was in store for me this holiday season but I knew I wanted to go full force. Go big or go home, right? Well my expectations were granted 300 times over with outstanding press from Apartment Therapy, Cool Mom Picks and Daily Candy Kids. I had no idea I would be scrambling to order more supplies and pumping out on average 30 orders a day.

Today alone I cranked out 156 holiday gift bags.

The numbers are astonishing to me but what keeps me burning the midnight oil is the thought of teachers and daycare providers receiving gifts from their students wrapped in bags I made. The thought of grammy and papa filling their grandchildren’s stockings with sweet goodies. These thoughts flood my heart and soul when I sit down to help create a memory this holiday season. It’s truly what the holiday season is all about.

And although my holiday bags are my #1 seller this season, I’m still churning out birthday party gift bags. I want to share a special comment one of my customers emailed me after celebrating their sons birthday that brought me to tears:

“I just wanted to drop you all a quick line to say thank you
for the beautiful cowboy favor bags for my son’s second birthday. They
turned out perfectly and looked beautiful laid out at the party.

Thanks for helping us celebrate our milestone!”

Thank you “C” for such a heartfelt message!

And I just want to say thank you to everyone for helping make my little business grow. I have big plans for 2011 that are not possible without the support of each and everyone of you.

Good for you! U truly make some beautiful designs! I started my shop earlier this year and I’m still trying to get people to visit my site and place orders. Do u have any advice? Can u share a couple things you did to create visibility and that resulted in more orders for you? Much appreciated, thanks!

Hi Juliana! Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!

First, when you comment on blogs leave a link to your etsy shop, website, blog, etc…that way other readers and the editor can see your site. And promote, promote, promote! Starting off is really an uphill battle but it will pay off dividends in the end. Email blogs you like to get featured, promote yourself on twitter, and get a Facebook page. And most of all connect with your customers and give them the best customer service. Word of mouth will be your best marketing tool.

If you have any more specific questions don’t hesitate to email me at bridgett @ perideaudesigns.com.

Good luck!

YAY! I just had a friend who I ordered stationary for last year as a gift email me and begging me for your info so she can order more “gorgeous modern stationary.” Her name is Dallas. Just FYI :)
All my bags are filled with cheese waffers and ready to go! I can’t wait to give them out. I’ll take some pics first though – of course :)
Congrats on big holiday success. You’re amazing.

Hi Bridgett,
A couple months ago I was the person who emailed you about a typo I found! Anyway, I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and very happy to hear of your busy holiday season.

I enjoy your site and came to you via PJ’s site “Somewhere in Middle America.” Both PJ and I are NYC transplants now in Omaha, NE. I too have my own small business (I invite you to check it out: Trocadero at shoptrocadero.com) and have both a business and personal blog. I like that you like to also empower other women business owners.

At age 40, I’ve reinvented myself again and will be adding “mommy” to my list of achievements (actually will be 41 by then) as I’m due with my first baby on Valentine’s Day. We actually ordered our favor bags from you and looking forward to giving them out in January. Thank you for burning the midnight oil and getting our order out before you closed for the new year!!

Anyway, thanks and happy holidays!

-Alice
