May Business Goals

monthly-goal

Wow, April has abrutly come and gone. Definitely a good sign of being busy as my lil’ business starts to pick up. So looking back at my April business goals I can say I did ok.

April goals:
1. Send stock of items for consignment deal
2. Hand out at least 25 business cards
3. Work on work-life balance: save weekends for creativity and administrative items
4. Complete blog redesign
5. Create content schedule for blog
6. Begin working on splash page re-design

Although I didn’t send out the stock to the local shop until May 4th, I will still consider it an accomplishment and will proudly file it under April. I crossed off the blog re-design as I have submitted all of my ideas to the designer and just now waiting to hear back from them. Hopefully the end of May/beginning of June I can truly cross that off my list. And yes my splash page is completely re-done and I’m loving it. It really matches the direction of my designs and coincidently match my business cards.

Some items I still need to work on is handing out business cards to strangers. This seems a bit out my comfort zone as I’m not quite sure how to approach people. But I’m proud to admit I did give my card to a small boutique in LA while I was on vacation. We’ll see if anything comes of it. I’m still working on a content schedule for my blog so will be rolling this over to May’s goals. And the most difficult is the work-life balance. With the craft show coming up I think this will go out the door for the month of May but will remain on my list of goals just so it’s in the forefront.

A few highlights from last month:
*I was featured in numerous treasuries including one of them being on the front page of Etsy
*I ended April with being 5 sales short of hitting 100. A great feat being only open since March
*I have been mentioned on a few blogs
*I signed up for 2 craft shows
*Have a permanant look and feel to my lil’ business

So what’s in store for May?

May 2009 Goals
1. Complete stock for June’s craft fair
2. Add new blog series/content schedule
3. Send out e-newsletter
4. Re-address advertising campaign
5. Work-life balance

A few months ago I was really good about keeping track of my advertising efforts but once sales started to pick up I sort of neglected what has been working and what hasn’t. So once I re-design my banner I will advertise on a blog in addition to keeping track of my renewing/listing efforts on Etsy.

Thanks so much Modish for keeping me and other small business accountable to our goals!

Congrats on all you have accomplished! It’s good to have goals. I’m right there with ya on feeling awkward about handing out business cards to strangers, or even friends! It’s hard to market yourself . . . still working on that one!

Great job in making headway into getting things done. I still have a lot to do to get my April goals done.

Handing out business cards to strangers is a bit uncomfortable at first, but once you do it a few times, you’ll feel natural.

Looking forward to seeing your goals come to fruition this month! :)

I know you handed out buisness cards in Los Angeles when we were doing our paper tour! It’s scary to put yourself out there, but I think you do an amazing job of it.
